Today Davis Cameron has called for all British citizens to work together in 2012 to put the Great back into Britain. This year will showcase the Olympic Games and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and is the perfect opportunity for us to show the world how great we truly are as a nation...
Only we aren't. Only a total imbecile would think otherwise.
Britain in 2012 is a myriad of misery, doom and fiscal catastrophe. No amount of flag waving and moronic chants of En-Ger-Land isn going to change that. We're entangled in EU bureaucracy that is costing us millions every day, we're bailing out banks every other month, religious tensions are at an all time high, the multicultural experiment has destroyed any sense of nationality and immigration continues to soar to unsustainable levels unchecked.
What exactly is Great about Britain at the present time?
Since the Conservatives took power the only promise they have successfully managed to keep is that taxes will go up. No surprise there. Pledges to cap immigration, to reform a corrupt government, to solve the financial crisis all have yet to come to any form of meaningful fruition. Nothing has changed.
I think it is right to have pride in your people but not always necessarily for your land. There is no pride in a Government that uses obscene levels of taxation to raise revenue to prop up the economies and banks of other nations. There is no pride in a Monarch who does nothing other than occasionally wave from the safety of her armoured vehicle at the commoners. And there can be no pride in hosting Games in a country that is clearly woefully unprepared for the event.
If David Cameron and his Tory Government want to restore the Great back into Britain they would do well to begin by following through with some of the promises they made in their election manifesto instead of criticising the public for not being in the mood to wave a flag.
