Who would have thought pride could be so expensive? Empty

Today the Indian finance minister Pranab Mukherjee described the 1.2bn in aid being given to them by Britain as peanuts and went on to brag that his country did not even need it. Coalition ministers have defended the payout by arguing that it would be a "grave political embarrassment" for the Coalition if India turned the money down.

The revelations come days after India picked a French firm for a £13billion deal to supply 126 fighter jets.

Ok so what the hell exactly is going on here? Are we seriously giving India 1.2bn in aid just to save face?! If this is true this has to be one of the worst slaps in the face to the British public by our Government in decades. Worse even than the expenses scandal. We're all struggling to reduce a deficit and our Government is literally giving away the money we've saved to people that don't even want it? For a Government that lectures us on austerity measures every other day they seem to be spending even more money than Labour did! New rail projects, happiness studies, and now aid to a country that doesn't even want or need it?

What exactly did the British public do to deserve being screwed like this by anyone that gets into power? Is it really too unreasonable to ask for a Government that looks after the interests of it's electorate before anyone else? I've seen less corruption and deceit in a Banana republic!

We can't keep allowing our politicians to get away with this. The power is in the people not in the leaders and it's high time we began reminding them of it. We should be demanding public audited accounts of every penny the Government spends every year. We're leaving the most important jobs in the country to be carried out by people with little to no experience in their field. How many years experience does George Osborne have in accountancy exactly? Where did he train? Does he have a degree in accountancy and who interviewed him for the position and why was he considered the best man for the job? Ministerial positions are handed out like sweets are to friends and the people that inevitably suffer are us.

Britain used to be a nation of fighters. What the hell happened to us??
