Never Has So Much... Empty
PostSubject: Never Has So Much... Never Has So Much... EmptySat Nov 12, 2011 5:38 am

Today was a day of respect. A day to honour those who have fallen in battle for us. Those who
have died glorious heroic deaths for the good of many.

That's one way of looking at it. Another way is to remember those who have died needlessly. Those who have sacrificed their lives for the political gain of others. Those who have fallen in wars that they played no part in starting.

It is right to remember those who have died but not for the reasons those in power would like us to believe. There is no glory in their deaths. There is no heroism. There is only a torrent of insincere good wishes on one day out of three hundred and sixty five by those in power designed solely to persuade those who serve to continue paying the ultimate price.

It was Churchill who coined the phrase never have so many owed so much to so few. I beg to differ. Never have so few owed so much to so many.

Our Governments quarrel and bicker with other Governments and the inevitable result is that the common man suffers. Families lose loved ones. And leaders continue to dine upon oysters and caviar.

Remember our fallen but remember them with anger for their lives have been stolen from us under banners of meaningless patriotism.

How true Oli, it is the saddest thing for a mother to lose a son, a brother/sister to lose their loved ones. If the loved ones were fighting for their country, for their peoples survival, then yes, I think most would gladly give up their lives to save millions of others. The recent wars had nothing to do with our safety or our countries, they are fighting for oil, they are fighting to keep Governments rich. In Blair's case, they fought so he could make a name for himself. It is a National disgrace.

My heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones in these pointless and avoidable wars. May they R.I.P.

Excellent article.
